October 11, 2024 update:
BSU is asking residents to be mindful when beginning the recovery process at their residences. Homeowners along the Imperial River, the Bonita Beach Road area west of 41 and the Barrier Islands should continue to limit water usage.
Be sure to keep tree clippings and other debris from around BSU’s equipment on your property. This includes backflows, meters, fire hydrants and sewer clean out lids. Removing obstructions will assist our crews in repairing damage caused by Hurricane Milton.
Many areas remain without power. If you do not have power, the wastewater pump station serving you may not have power. At this time, our staff is pumping down stations using portable generators. To ease stress on sewer operations and help prevent backups or spills, please adhere to the following:
•Limit running water and toilet flushing.
•Do not run dishwashers and clothes washers as soon as you have power restored.
•Limit water use in the shower or bath.
