As temperatures are expected to dip into the lower 30s on Saturday, Jan. 31, Sunday, Feb. 1, and Monday, Feb. 2, customers may notice little to no water service during the early morning hours. This is often caused by frozen pipes.
To help prevent freezing pipes and maintain water service, we recommend leaving a cold water tap slightly open overnight, so the water runs at a slow drip. Even minimal movement in the pipes can help keep water flowing and reduce the risk of freezing.
If you choose to leave a faucet dripping, please be mindful of slow-draining sinks and check periodically to ensure water is draining properly and does not overfill. If you are unable to monitor an indoor faucet, consider dripping an outdoor faucet (such as a hose bib) instead.
Taking this simple step can help protect your plumbing and avoid service disruptions during extreme cold weather.
Stay warm and take precautions to keep everything flowing smoothly.
