FPL’s SolarTogether™ is an FPL shared solar program designed to allow all FPL customers the opportunity to share in the benefits and costs of large-scale solar energy while receiving credits on their monthly FPL bill. As an FPL customer, BSU proudly participates in the program, along with 38,000 other Floridians who are committed to helping bring more solar energy to the Sunshine State.
Through this program, FP&L is allocating a portion of one of their solar facilities to power production for BSU based on our actual usage. In time, BSU will reduce its energy costs, achieve sustainability goals and offset up to 100% of our energy usage with renewable energy.
What are the environmental benefits of the program?
Solar energy is not only sustainable, it is also renewable. This means that we will never run out of it.
Solar power helps to slow/stop global warming. It actively contributes to the decrease of harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
Each Solar Tree is capable of producing up to 3 kilowatts of solar energy – enough to power an electric vehicle 15,000 miles per year.
- Unlike conventional power generation, Solar Trees generate energy with no air emissions and no water use.
The advantage of solar power is that no pollution is created in the process of generating electricity.
Environmentally the cleanest energy, solar energy is helping to protect our environment.
