BSU announces board of directors

Bonita Springs Utilities Inc. members re-elected Brian Farrar, Paul Attwood and Ben Nelson Jr. and elected James Murphy and Lawrence Kosilla to its board of directors. Election results were announced during the utility’s annual meeting, which was shortened due to coronavirus health advisories.

BSU members elect three fellow members each year for a three-year term. Due to recent vacancies on the board, there was an additional two-year term and one-year term to fill this year. Five candidates ran for five open board seats.

BSU mailed 25,588 ballots, and volunteers from the League of Women Voters of Lee County counted 4,018 returned ballots. Elected to three-year terms, Farrar received 3,043 votes, Attwood received 3,007 votes and Nelson received 2,723 votes. Elected to the two-year term, Murphy received 2,175 votes. Kosilla received 1,919 votes and was elected to the one-year term.

Other board members are Robert Bachman, Frank Liles Jr., Mike Malloy and Vincent Marchesani. The board of directors holds a public meeting at 5 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. In addition, each board member serves on various subcommittees and work groups.
