Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) Upgrade Process

Starting in July 2021, installation crews will work street-by-street throughout the service area to install upgraded AMI meters at each house and business. Crews will install new meters and build the network of repeaters and amplifiers that transmit the meter data.

Installation crews will begin out east on Bonita Beach Road and work their way west into town. The crews will knock on doors to let you know they are working in your area. If no one is home, they will leave a doorhanger alerting residents that work was done at their property. Water meters are located outdoors, so there is no need for you to be home. Crews do not need access and will not request to enter your house.

There will be a temporary service interruption, lasting 15 minutes on average, as installers complete the upgrade. The entire installation process will average less than 30 minutes for residential homes. Commercial water meter installation times may take longer, depending on the meter size. This installation will have no effect on water quality.
