Water and Wastewater Service RatesBonita Springs Utilities, Inc. provides potable water, irrigation water and wastewater treatment services to homes and businesses within a 50-square-mile service area. New construction charges and other impact costs, base monthly charges for water and wastewater service, consumption and usage payments, and special fees all help to maintain the financially sound operation of your community utility.

Monthly charges for residential water consist of a base rate according to the meter size, a $4.06 billing charge and actual water usage:
Charges For Water Used
The monthly charge for residential wastewater treatment (sewer) service includes a monthly charge based on meter size, plus $3.70 per thousand gallons of water used and is capped at 16,000 gallons per month. There is no extra billing fee ($4.06) if the customer is also a water customer. Homes that use Unmetered sewer service only - not water - are charged a flat rate of $46.73 per month.
In addition to potable water meters, irrigation meters may also be installed. The water is billed at the same rate for both meters. Sewer charges are based on the water consumption of the potable meter. Irrigation meters bill for water usage only. Installation costs for irrigation meters include the meter connection fee, plus labor and installation materials based on the results of a written cost estimate. Cost estimates may be requested via a fax to customer service at (239) 947-7460, at no cost to the customer. The irrigation meter size must be included in the faxed cost estimate request, along with customer's service address and contact information. Charges for multi-family homes and Mixed-Master (a combination of residential and another classification) are based on water usage plus a monthly per unit rate of $6.48 for water and $22.78 for sewer service. Construction SitesConstruction Meter Deposit $1,120.00, refundable if returned in good condition.
Water service to construction sites is billed at the rate of $4.25 per thousand gallons. Residential Deposits
A residential property owner may have the deposit requirement waived by providing a letter of credit from another utility company which shows a positive 18 month payment history. Deposits are not waived to those who are renting. Residential deposits are refunded after 18 months of continuous service as long as the account has had no returned checks, service has not been disconnected for non-payment and there have been no late payments. Connection FeesResidential, non-residential and irrigation fees are based on meter size. Multi-family and Mixed Master units are charged at a per-unit rate. Aid to New Construction (ANC) Fees must be paid in full before BSU will furnish the letters that are required for permitting.
Other FeesSome fees are higher when the service is provided outside normal business hours. Business hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday through Friday with the exception of some holidays.

Rates Terms and DefinitionsAid to New Construction (ANC) Fee
A member-customer's share of the system-wide cost of building treatment facilities and installing lines. One ANC fee is assessed for each new Equivalent Residential Connection (ERC) to the utility. Base Charge A fixed monthly charge that reflects the utility's ongoing fixed cost of providing basic service. This charge continues whether a property's meter is operating on shut off. The additional monthly consumption charge will vary based on actual water usage. Equivalent Residential Connection (ERC) A measure of the average daily flow for a single residential unit. Rates Refers to the charges for monthly services, including a base charge, billing charge and usage charges calculated according to the number of gallons of water used. These and special charges for various types of services may change from time to time, subject to approval by the Bonita Springs Utilities' Board of Directors and the Lee County Board of County Commissioners. |
